EcoMatters community gardens are going through a transformation. Come and hear about our plans, and get your hands dirty! Join in on this practical session getting our autumn and winter plantings underway with Meg Liptrot, EcoMatters Community Garden and EcoHub Education Coordinator.
The community allotments within the garden are evolving into more intensive food production and we are currently running a community food waste pilot using worm farms and a three bin NZBox Compost System.
Meg has a background in sustainable land management and designed EcoMatters gardens in collaboration with Brendan Hoare (former Organic Systems and Sustainable Design lecturer) back in 2004. The gardens are loosely based on permaculture zones, with food forest, bee garden, rongoā and native revegetation.
We run weekly organic garden sessions where participants learn about soil fertility, growing food from seed, and keeping plants healthy. EcoMatters will also be offering garden internships in the future.
Please wear covered shoes, bring gloves and a hat. Brought to you by EcoMatters.
Accessible by bus, train.
Bookings required.
