This year we open Kōanga Festival during Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori and the first day of Māhuru Māori with a celebration of whakaari reo Māori, a special reading of the recently published Rōmeo raua ko Hūrieta, Te Haumihiata Mason’s translation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet as part of Kotahi Rau Pukapuka and published by Auckland University Press.
