Matariki Arrowtown Kā-Muriwai

Matariki Arrowtown Kā-Muriwai returns on Friday 28th June 2024 With a refreshed name and committee it will be a true whanau event, following the theme of "Bringing Whanau Together" weaved throughout. This years event will extend further along Buckingham Street with Māori educational experiences in Arrowtown Athenaeum Hall and Lakes District Museum and two stages for entertainment. Buckingham Green will once again feature Kapa haka performances by tamariki from local preschool and schools with a punchier schedule between performances and will start earlier to suit families. Library Green will be showcasing solo performers and poetry and a lot more kai offerings throughout. Bringing Matariki back to its roots as a community event with the Arrowtown Preschool over a decade ago and at its heart, it is an event by the community for the community. We're excited to share the meaningful changes that have been made this year that will surprise and delight those who visit but especially those that came in previous years.
