It’s life… but not as we know it!

For the first of our classic Sci-Fi Fridays, we're kicking off with a screening of Arrival.

Linguistics professor Louise Banks (Amy Adams) leads an elite team of investigators when gigantic spaceships touch down in locations around the world. As nations teeter on the verge of global war, Banks and her crew must race against time to find a way to communicate with the extraterrestrial visitors. Hoping to unravel the mystery, she takes a chance that could threaten her life… and quite possibly all of humankind.

The film will start at 7.30pm and will be preceded at 7.15pm by an introduction from Otago Museum’s Curator, Humanities Moira White who will show and discuss one of the Museum's ancient cuneiforms — one of Earth’s oldest forms of communication.

Sci-Fi Fridays will take place every second Friday of the month in Otago Museum's Perpetual Guardian Planetarium. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.
