Support the revitalisation of Māori language and culture
Did you know Māori Language week has been celebrated each year from 1975? Māori Language Day is actually on 14th September and commemorates the presentation of the 1972 Māori language petition to parliament. The focus of the week is to support the revitalisation of Māori language and culture. Tumeke! That’s definitely something worth celebrating.

Come celebrate te wiki o te reo Māori with the team at He Tohu.

Explore the He Tohu exhibition with our te reo speaking guides or listen to an all te reo playlist showcasing some of Aotearoa’s brightest stars while challenging yourself with our new He Tohu bilingual workbook — learn some new kupu (words), design your own tohu (symbol) or reinvent Aotearoa’s haki (flag). He Tohu all ages bilingual workbook, and colouring table available all week (Monday to Saturday) during opening hours
