Come to the Museum for some school holiday fun with a screening of Pixar’s beloved film WALL-E in the Perpetual Guardian Planetarium.
Fast forward to the 29th century, where consumerism and environmental neglect have turned Earth into a wasteland. Humans are nowhere to be found, having been evacuated to spaceships seven centuries earlier. Of all the robots left behind to clean up, only one remains operational: WALL-E. One day, WALL-E's routine is broken by the arrival of an unmanned probe sent to scan the planet for plant life.
This screening is heavily discounted as part of our Blast Off Weekend – two days of fun, family-friendly activities, including free science shows, a space illustration workshop, and a free Makerspace crafting area. We are celebrating the opening of Tūhura Tuarangi, a brand new, highly interactive exhibition about space science. See it in the Beautiful Science Gallery, where you can build a satellite, mix your own clean green fuel, get up close with ion thrusters and a four-billion-year-old meteorite, or take a virtual reality tour into space to explore our solar system and beyond.
