Thirteen-year-old trainee witch Kiki leaves home with her talking black cat Jiji.
She flies on her broomstick, arrives at a port town, sets up a delivery service, and eventually becomes established in the community. However, she has fallen into self-doubt over her relationships and her work entanglements and has lost her magical abilities.
