This workshop is about connecting with children through the arts. A hands on workshop for teachers, social workers and counsellors working with children.
One of the biggest issues that hamper kids’ development and causes problematic behaviours is their difficulty making contact, or connecting – with parents, teachers, peers, or books (Violet Oaklander).
Engaging in arts making provides a way to communicate, connect and explore relationships in a non-threatening way. In this hands-on workshop we will explore the use of art, using a variety of media and processes, as a way to connect and engage with children.
Please note that this is not an introduction into arts therapy, neither is it a training in social work, teaching, counselling or arts therapy. It is an exploration of how you can use expressive arts to connect with children within your current profession.
This workshop is aimed at counsellors, therapists and teachers working with children.
