A special talk with Hawke's Bay historian, Michael Fowler, at the much-loved Westerman's building.
As one of the first major buildings to be built after the 1931 earthquake, the iconic Westerman’s Building is a prime example of Spanish Mission design. The premises was once the premier retail outlet in Hastings and is considered a much-loved landmark with its ornamental façade and beautiful decorative features. The building is at the heart of Hastings CBD which developed at pace from the 1930’s onwards.
