Wax ring casting workshop 16 & 30 of September

Wanting to make something more organic, complex or dynamic or make a ring to fit the perfect stone? Explore wax modeling design and finishing professionally bronze cast pieces in a fun two-session workshop.

Sat 16 September: Spend the day exploring a variety of wax, make a ring using hard wax which must be filed and shaped, or construct forms using sheet wax and moldable wax.

Sat 30 September: Finish off your castings using files saws, soldering, polishing techniques and setting stones into your cast items.

Class includes waxes, expendables emery paper, saw blades etc, solder and postage but not the items cast in metal.

Please note additional costs:

Casting fees = $7-$10 per item dependent on size of ring

Metal fees are determined by the weight of final wax model

= 0.50c per gram for Bronze or White bronze ( a great cost effective option)

= $4.00 per gram for Sterling silver ( better for well resolved designs and stone setting)

*An average wax carved ring will usually weigh between 7-10 grams

For students wishing to set stones we also have a variety of affordable gemstones available to purchase.
