What’s your current obsession? Thrifted fashion? Bubble tea? The All Blacks? Chappell Roan? Drawing manga? Puppies? Ancient history?

East Auckland Youthspace invites you to bring whatever it is you are loving right now to a creative workshop exploring fanzines as part of this year’s Auckland Zinefest.
What’s a zine? Zines are self-made booklets and publications of art, writing, and collage where you can express your thoughts, obsessions, stories, and creativity.

This workshop will introduce you to the world of zines and guide you through some fun and easy book-making activities. Go home with your own personal mini fanzine in three hours! No experience or supplies are needed for this workshop, though you are welcome to bring in images or text about a topic you really love!

Open to all youth ages 12-24 for free – just register to save your spot.

Presented by Kim Snider (she/her):
Kim Snider (she/her) is a teacher and obsessive zine-collector from Toronto, Canada, where she teaches drama, creative writing, and gender studies. She recently moved to Tāmaki Makaurau to pursue her PhD, which focuses on the role of the arts in supporting queer and trans youth.

The East Auckland Youth Space can be found in Botany Town Centre, on Level 1 next to the Botany Library.
