Join Conservation Volunteers NZ for a community planting day at Embling Farm in Brookby to help us restore the Papakura Stream. This project aims to restore and protect stream banks and water quality, as well as habitat for native species, through fencing (with Future Posts – recycled plastic fence posts), planting native trees, water quality monitoring, and community engagement on both public and private land. On this day we will be planting a variety of native trees and shrubs to help restore the Papakura Stream. Planting will run from 10:00am - 12:00pm followed by a free sausage sizzle (meat and veg options)! We provide all tools and equipment.
Please note: Children 14 years and under are to be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
What to wear: Sturdy boots/shoes or gumboots, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, bring with you a sun hat, waterproof jacket. Tree planting can be muddy work, so make sure you wear clothing and footwear that you don't mind getting dirty.
Please register on our website to ensure we have enough food for the BBQ: https://volunteerportal.conservationvolunteers.co.nz/s/make-booking?id=a0rJ4000003eAMwIAM
