Join us to celebrate conservation week this year with local author Des Casey as we discuss the ideas in his new book "Nature’s Future, Our Future"

What will we, with ourselves as a part of nature, do at the crossroads facing us all now? Opportunities still exist to further activate and mobilize our qualities of creativity, generosity, courage and wisdom.

Hope and change reside in these attributes of the human spirit. Des will highlight how closing the gap between what we do at work and nature’s needs will be pivotal for nature’s future and for our own, bringing our occupational lives into line with environmental need. He challenges our political, economic, and commercial life within society’s belief systems and priorities and highlights how a very different consciousness of what drives environmental deterioration is paramount. So too is strong and focused leadership. His new "scholarly, heartfelt and practical" book has a collection of essays that review a selection of specific occupations as examples of ways in which this change can happen and he will discuss this along with new and defining considerations for resolving the environmental challenge. He highlights our partnership with nature, a model for change and a pathway for hope. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session. There will be copies of his book available to purchase.

“For anyone concerned about the future of our biosphere and how we take action, I urge you to read this book.”- Dr James Renwick.
