Grew & Grew comprises brothers Stephen and Nick Grew, reuniting from opposite sides of the world for an improvised duel between piano and electronics.

Stephen is an accomplished piano improviser from the UK who has performed in the UK, Europe, North and South America, and now Aotearoa. He has released a number of group and solo albums in the UK and Europe.

Nick Grew is based in Whangārei and is Head of Music at Whangārei Girls' High School. As a solo electro-acoustic live improviser and sound sculptor, he is known as Mesa. Nick has worked as a composer, improviser and educator for more than 30 years; he's also been a teacher, a lecturer of composition and community music in the UK, and a sound designer for theatre in Berlin, Germany. Stephen and Nick were members of improvised electronic quartet Grutronic, which recorded and performed with reknowned sax improviser Evan Parker.

After more than 10 years, Nick and Stephen are reuniting here in Whangārei. Come and see them create a sonic and musical duel that will unfold in front of your eyes!
