Celebrate Matariki The Māori New Year

We welcome all local families and supporters in Birkenhead to a Celebration Evening for Matariki, the Māori New Year 2024 at Northcote College! This is a free community event hosted by Northcote College to celebrate Matariki.

Enjoy kapa haka performances by Birkenhead Primary, Willow Park Primary, Northcote Intermediate School and Northcote College and join in with the Raranga (weaving) workshop and arts & crafts for tamariki.

There will be beautiful Māori art, Matariki earrings and baking for sale, so don't forget to bring some cash to purchase a taonga.

Make sure to dress warmly, and bring money for kai: $10 hangi, $2 fried bread, $2 soup and $1 drinks, or enjoy a treat from food trucks.
