Meet the Locals - Birds of The Ashley Rakahuri Estuary

Come and join the members of Birds New Zealand and the Ashley Rakahuri Rivercare Group to view up close the birds of the Ashley Estuary. Members will have binoculars and scopes for you to look through to get a close up view of the remarkable bird life. Meet at the carpark at the end of Beach Crescent, Waikuku and walk out to view the birds with our knowledgeable members. Learn how to tell a pied stilt from an oystercatcher, and if you are lucky you may spot some of the rare birds of the area such as little egret.
