Aging brings about a host of physical, mental, and social changes that can significantly impact your quality of life. This course will open up this vital conversation and provide rich information about Men’s Health and Aging.

Description
Men’s Health & Aging is a subject that is so important, but which is not being offered in many places. Ageing brings about a host of physical, mental, and social changes for men that can significantly impact your quality of life. We aim to provide a comprehensive, holistic approach to managing these changes effectively.

Key Areas of Focus:

1. Physical Health:  Preventive Care: Strategies for maintaining physical health through regular medical check-ups and preventive measures.  Nutrition and Exercise: Guidance on balanced nutrition and effective exercise routines tailored to the needs of men over 40.  Chronic Conditions: Information on managing common age-related health issues such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.

2. Mental Health:  Emotional Well-Being: Techniques for managing stress, anxiety, and depression that can accompany the aging process.  Cognitive Health: Activities and practices to maintain and enhance cognitive function and mental acuity.  Mindfulness and Relaxation: Introduction to mindfulness practices and relaxation techniques to promote mental well-being.

3. Movement and Physical Activity:  Flexibility and Mobility: Exercises to improve flexibility, balance, and mobility, reducing the risk of falls and injuries.  Strength Training: Programs focused on maintaining and building muscle strength to support overall physical health.  Active Lifestyle: Encouraging an active lifestyle that includes regular physical activity tailored to individual capabilities and interests.

4. Social Identity and Place in the World:  Role and Purpose: Exploration of changing social roles and the search for purpose and fulfilment in the later stages of life.  Community and Relationships: Strategies for building and maintaining strong social connections and support networks.  Work-Life Balance: Guidance on achieving a healthy balance between work, personal life, and leisure activities.

5. Reality vs. Fiction:  Media and Aging: Critical analysis of how ageing is portrayed in media and its impact on self-perception and societal expectations.  Myths and Facts: Dispelling common myths about ageing and providing factual information to foster a realistic and positive outlook.

6. Holistic Approach: We adopt a holistic approach to ageing, recognising that physical, mental, and social well-being are interconnected. By addressing these areas comprehensively, we aim to empower men to embrace the ageing process with confidence and resilience.

A condition of enrolment is that you must provide photo ID when you attend.

Note: Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. We'll let you know by email so please check yours regularly.
