Join us to celebrate the opening of City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi’s exhibition Julian Hooper: The Letter for an artist talk with Julian Hooper.

The Letter brings together ten years of Hooper’s painting and drawing practice, alongside new works, highlighting the importance of process, repetition, variation and surprise. Hooper created his first alphabet painting in 2018 and his idiosyncratic visual language now often draws on letters, numbers and symbols. The Letter includes vitrines of Hooper’s sketchbooks and working drawings, alongside a new foldout alphabet frieze.
