Learn professional trouser sewing techniques and the correct process in which to make trousers. Sampling will include a fly front zipper, inseam pocket, waistband application and optional hemming methods. These versatile techniques are applicable to both casual (jeans) and formal wear garments. Not for beginners.

Description
Learn the correct process to successfully make a pair of trousers, this course will teach you professional industry-standard techniques that are adaptable, achievable and versatile.

Through sampling these techniques in class, you can develop confidence in making your next pair of trousers.

Note: You'll be working on pre-cut, supplied sampling pieces - you do not make a pair of trousers in this course.

Please bring half a metre of reversible cotton fabric, your sewing kit (including 1 or 2 spools of quality thread, fabric scissors, snips (optional), pins, tape measure, chalk (or fabric marking pencil), hand-sewing needles), a Bernina bobbin (if using one of he school's sewing machines), pencil and paper, water bottle and lunch.

By the end of the course you'll be more confident with:

Assessing different types of inseam pockets and choosing one to sample
Making a fly front zipper
Applying a waistband
Sewing up the inner and outer leg seams and the crotch seams
Evaluating hemming methods

Note: Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. We'll let you know by email so please check yours regularly. If you need to cancel your registration, here are our terms and conditions: "What You Need to Know".
