Sunday Matinee Series presents Roy Tankersley and Friends

Local musician Roy Tankersley has assembled from Palmerston North and Whanganui a team of fine musicians which calls itself The Riya Ensemble. The name is derived from the initials of the first names of the performers - Roy Tankersley – piano; Ingrid Culliford – flute; Yuri Park – violin; and Annie Hunt – Cello.

Riya happens to be a feminine name of Indian origin that means "beautiful", "graceful" or "one who sings or dances". It is derived from the Sanskrit word "rishi" which means "singer" or "poet".

They will present a programme of works by Joseph Haydn, Antonin Dvorak, Frank Bridge, Carl Maria von Weber, and François Doppler
