Tātai Whetū is a captivating collection of three film works and a series of dance sketches, brought to life by Atamira Dance Company’s creatives and collaborators. These works weave together the creative strengths of diverse artists, immersing viewers in the world of Te Ao Māori.

Through the lens of Tātai Whetū, audiences are invited into the transitional space of Te Wheiao, where reality and imagination blur. This collection connects the grounded and floating worlds, exploring the interplay of dark and light.

Atamira Dance Company is where Te Ao Māori and dance converge, bringing Mātauranga Māori, Whakapapa, and stories to life through creative expression and movement.

Directed by Kelly Nash, an integral member of Atamira since 2006, and produced by the innovative team at Threading Frames, Tātai Whetū showcases the collaborative spirit of these artists. Kelly Nash’s extensive career in dance and choreography, combined with the creative direction of Joshua and Tyler from Threading Frames, delivers a powerful exploration of culture, movement, and storytelling.

This show is a part of Te Rerenga o Tere | Tempo Dance Festival 2024 at Q Theatre, 10 - 20 October 2024.
