Experience the beautiful native forest while our ranger shares stories about the water collection area. Learn how this freshwater ends up in Wellington’s taps. This forest is one of the best examples of lowland broadleaf forest in the lower North Island.

Visit the historic Morton Dam. This is one of the largest concrete dams in New Zealand. It has a special engineering heritage, being the first and largest of two reinforced concrete buttress dams in New Zealand.

This walk is restricted to 40 people, so get in quick! You’ll be led by our knowledgeable park ranger. You’ll need a moderate fitness level and you’re likely to get your feet wet, so please bring suitable footwear and clothing. Remember to bring your own lunch, snacks and a water bottle. Please note that this walk is NOT suitable for children under 14 years of age.
