Walk 23 – Eagles Nest - Bubble(s) & Squeak via Lovers' Leap 3km *NEW*

Lazy Sunday Bubble(s) and Squeak via Lovers’ Leap

The walk is less than 3 km long and takes in “Lovers Leap”, “Jim’s Walkway” and the “Fladgate Nature Trail” as well as Bubble(s) and Squeak at the award winning “Eagles Nest”. 3 hours walking, up to 3 hours lazying.

You will be transported to Tapeka Point where you start the climb to the Tapeka Point Lookout. If you are lucky you will see dolphins. Descending to Rocky Beach you have the opportunity to swing on a traditional tyre swing.

The locals of Tapeka are known for their hospitality so you never know what will happen as you return to Jim’s Walkway. Jim is still around at the young age of 90 years old. He is the best person to explain his track!

Jim’s Walkway changes into the Flagate Nature Trail – the home of kiwis at night.

Reaching the top of the track it is a short walk to Maiki Hill, the site of the Flagstaff, before walking to Eagles Nest – an exquisite multi award winning world class villa resort! We have exclusive use of many of their facilities.

As it is a lazy Sunday walk, you can have a glass of bubbles (or two) with your bubble and squeak! Non alcoholic drinks will be provided too.

Yes, we are being lazy too with our catering!!!

You can enjoy the facilities for as long as you like – up to 3.00 pm. Lounge on the loungers, take in the 270 degree views, walk the park like grounds!!! The Atrium is also a great place to escape to.

When you are ready to return to the bowling club we will shuttle you back to town. Or you could walk back to Russell a different way. Our guides will explain.

Our guides are all passionate and knowledgeable about the Bay of Islands area and bring something special to the walking experience. Each walk has no more than 20 people. Our HQ is the Russell Bowling Club where people can meet, chat about their day and have something to eat and drink.

Russell is a fantastic base for the weekend with lots of great restaurants, places to stay and for the non-walkers out there. We are very excited about this weekend and the great walking experiences there are here in the Bay of Islands. Time to get your walking boots out of the cupboard and join us in the Bay of Islands.
