Brief Itinerary
Thursday 20th February - Train Travel Day - North to Taranaki

Spend a beautiful day on our heritage train, travelling up rarely travelled sections of track as we wrap ourselves up in the surroundings heading up country. Pass the afternoon nestled in the township of Inglewood and explore the muscle cars as part of the Americarna Festival. The locals host an astounding street party. Experience live entertainment, indulge in superb food, refreshing beverages, craft stalls, and fantastic kids’ activities, before jumping back on the train to head into New Plymouth in the evening.

Friday 21st February - Optional Coach Travel Day

Being collected from your hotel by the fantastic Weir Tours team, embark on a day’s navigation ‘round the mountain’, taking in some novel sights. Visit the Egmont Lighthouse, venture down the coast to the surf town of Opunake, and embark on an adventure through time whilst visiting the Tawhiti Museum at Hawera.

Saturday 22nd February - Optional Coach Travel Day

Okurukuru, - one of the highlights of the region’s hospitality scene. The building sits atop a fifty-acre block of land, just ten minutes south of the city which has become a vineyard, the view stretches from Oakura to the Sugar Loaf Islands and directly behind facing inland the clear views of Mt Taranaki. While here you will get to experience a taste of some local wines and canapes.

Sunday 23rd February - Train Travel Day - South to Kapiti

Join the train at the New Plymouth Wind Wand first thing in the morning and settle in for our return journey back to the Kapiti Coast, throughout the day. As we drop you home after a whirlwind few days with Steam Incorporated, and the team from Weir Tours!
