About The Classic Comedy Club

Opened in the late 90s, The Classic Comedy Club is a cornerstone of Auckland’s entertainment scene and NZ's only full-time professional comedy club. As the home of the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, it hosts local and international acts up to five nights a week.

Modelled after successful comedy clubs in the USA and UK, The Classic has earned praise for its inviting atmosphere and enthusiastic audiences. The main venue seats 100 guests in comfortable cabaret-style seating, complemented by an adjacent bar. Upstairs, The Classic Studio offers an intimate setting for 40-60 people.

We spoke with Scott Blanks, owner and manager of The Classic, about their partnership with Eventfinda.

How long have you used Eventfinda for ticketing, and why did you choose us?

We fully moved over to Eventfinda, who are experts in ticketing, to streamline our operations and reduce internal workload.

"We've been using Eventfinda for over 15 years. Initially, we handled ticketing manually and partnered with other agencies during the comedy festival. But, once we sampled Eventfinda we found that it combined with our in-house system and worked perfectly. We're less formal than a theatre and don't need a seating map so the ability for a simple general admission (GA) format suited us well, as we didn't need a formal seating plan. By 2018, having two systems on the go was less desirable, so we fully moved over to Eventfinda, who are experts in ticketing, to streamline our operations and reduce internal workload."

Is Eventfinda easy to use?

 "Absolutely Eventfinda is very user friendly, especially for those who are less tech-minded. I'm not very tech-oriented, but with training from Eventfinda's team over the years, I've become proficient. I can now approve listings and manage our events more autonomously. The platform is especially user-friendly for non-techy people."

What do you like best about Eventfinda?

"Eventfinda aligns perfectly with what we want. Despite frequent offers from other ticketing agencies, we've stuck with Eventfinda because it works seamlessly. I like the online presentation of our events, and the system is very user-friendly—even for those who aren't tech-savvy. Our outside hirers also find Eventfinda simple to use and beneficial for their promotional needs."

How often to you log in?

"I stay connected across all devices—phone, laptop, you name it. I monitor our sales a dozen times a day. I am always across it. I love that I can change things and update shows on the go and after on sale."

What do you think of Eventfinda reporting?

"The reporting is perfect, exactly what I need. I can update listings and check sales from anywhere, even overseas. The team can also manage door sales and entry efficiently as we print door lists for each show, which works smoothly for us."
